HARTLEY, Henry Theodore - Progressive Age March 3, 1858 Wednesday- Died at the Parsonage in Keene, Coshocton Co., O of croup Henry Theodore, son of Rev. Charles and Louisa HARTLEY, age 9 years and 10 months. Submitted by: Norma Karter nckarter@flash.net HAY, Mr. Henry - Progressive Age November 16, 1859, Wednesday - Died on 5th of October 1859, near Coshocton Ohio, Mr. Henry HAY, aged 74years and 6 months. Mr. HAY was the Uncle of the Messrs. Hays of this town and was a most worthy citizen. He was born in the county of Derry, Ireland and came to country on the 10th of August 1843. Modest and retiring in his habits?strictly honest in all his dealings?he was beloved by all who had the pleasure of this acquaintance. - Submitted by: Norma Karter nckarter@flash.net HAY, Jane - Progressive Age Feb 3, 1858 Wednesday - Died very suddenly on the 4th of December John J. son of Alexander NEWELL, aged 8 years. - Submitted by: Norma Karter nckarter@flash.net Harrison, Virgil E. - From the Times Recorder, Zanesville Ohio 17 November 1972(Friday) - Virgil E. Harrison, 70, of 322 East Water Street, New Lexington, a self-employed painter, and a contractor, died at 2:30 Am. Thursday in Good Samaritan Medical Center after a short illness. The son of Arch and Emma Ketcham Harrison, he was born January 12, 1902 in Perry County. Mr. Harrison was a life long member of New Lexington Baptist church. Survivors include his widow, Florence, Five step-sons, Joe Euman of New Lexington, Bernard Euman of New Lexington, Route 2, Paul Euman of Moxahala, Robert Euman of Shawnee, and Frank Euman of New Lexington, Route 1. Four step-daughters, Mrs. Harold, (Cora), Lautenflager of Newark, Mrs. Robert, (Norma), Clark of Lancaster, Mrs. William, (Shirley), Braglin of New Lexington, and Mrs. Dorothy Corp, of McConnelsville. 44 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren, Two sisters, Mrs. Aline Hoops of New Lexington and Mrs. Richard Lee of Plain city. Friends may call after 2 pm. today at the Chute-Wiley Funeral home in New Lexington where services will be held at 1:00 pm. Saturday conducted by Rev. James Allison. Dole - From The Coshocton Tribune 14 May 1945 (Monday) - Mrs. Mary Hartman, Lifelong Resident of Coshocton, Dies Mrs. Mary Hartman, 79, 115 South Second st., lifelong resident of Coshocton, died at Mercy Hospital in Canton, Saturday at 8 pm. Following a four-month illness. She was a member of the Sacred Heart church her entire life. She was born June 1 1865, in Coshocton, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dole, and was married in 1885 to William Hartman, who died January 13, 1908. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. John Crawford and Mrs. C. J. McCoy of Canton, and Mrs. Robert Lockard, Coshocton; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Three daughters are deceased Services will be held Wednesday at 10 am. at the Sacred Heart church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony J. Domm n charge. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. Hartman after a Lingering Illness William Hartman died at his home on North Second Street Wednesday morning at 6:30 after having been ill for a number of months with tuberculosis. He will be buried Friday morning at 9 o�clock from Sacred Heart church. Interment being made in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Hartman was a son of Andrew Hartman and was a life long resident of Coshocton; he would have been 41 years of age had he lived until February 13. He is survived by his wife and five daughters, Mrs. John Crawford, Helen, Esther, Jennie and Della; his father and the following brothers and sisters; Anthony Hartman, John Hartman, Mrs. George Edgar of Coshocton; Frank Hartman and Mrs. James Long of Medina. Hinds, John Robert - From The Coshocton Tribune 18 April 1972 (Tuesday) -Deaths and Funerals - Hinds Service - Services for John Robert Hinds, 60, of 24 Sunset Blvd., Baileys Bluff, Fla., a former Newcomerstown resident, who died Monday at Meese Hospital in Dunedin, Fla., will be held at 1:30 pm. Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home. Dr. Russell H. Hoy will officiate; burial will be in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday 7 to 9 pm. and until time for services Friday. Mr. Hinds died in Florida after a brief illness and had been a patient in the hospital 19 days. He was born Mar. 28, 1912 in Newcomerstown a son of John and Cora Johns Hinds. A 1930 class graduate of Newcomerstown High School. He was employed at the Heller Tool Co., before entering the real estate business in Zephyr Hills Fla. He also worked at the Newcomerstown Clow plant and played in Chuck Yingling's Orchestra. Hinds was a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army and was a member of the 36th division Association of Waco Texas. Mr. Hinds had been assistant cashier at the First National Bank of Tarpon Springs, Fla. He held memberships in the First Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs, The Tarpon Springs Lions Club, the Lone Star F&A. M. 175 and Nugen 124 R.A.M. both of Newcomerstown, Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa Fla. Surviving are his widow, the former Madeline Martter; one brother, Walter R. Hinds, 1639 Sleepy Hollow Dr., this city; and one sister, Mrs. Earl (Frances) Titus, Lakeland Fla. one brother is deceased. - Submitted by:Kelly ImKellybar@aol.com Hiser, Albert B. - From The Coshocton Tribune 15 February 1973 (Thursday) - Deaths and Funerals - Albert Hiser - Albert B. Hiser, 87, of 360 South Ninth St., died at 2:40 pm. Wednesday shortly after admission to County Memorial Hospital He was born June 7, 1885, in Coshocton County, a son of Henry and Elizabeth Wagner Hiser. On November 15, 1910 he was married to Leona Marie Lauvray, who survives. Mr. Hiser was a retired employee of the Shaw-Burton Co. plant and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Emerson, (Frances) Helmick, Columbus; on granddaughter; and one sister, Mrs. Matilda Berton, Coshocton. Two brothers and one sister are deceased. Mass of the resurrection will be said at 10 am. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in South Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Dawson Funeral Home Friday, 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm., and where Rosary rites will be recited at 8 pm. Friday. Wagner - From The Zanesville Times Recorder 23 November 1925 - Mrs. Henry Hiser, 61, died at her home near Plainfield at 7:30 Am. Saturday from heart disease. She had been ill for the past three years. She was a member of the Lady of the Lourdes church at Wills Creek. Surviving are her husband and four children, two brothers, Jesse Wagner of Dresden, John Wagner of Coshocton; three sisters also survive. The funeral will be held at 10 Am. Monday at the Lady of the Lourdes church, in charge of Rev. Hiser is Summoned Monday Night John E. Hiser, aged 39, 380 South Ninth st., died at the city hospital Monday night from peritonitis. He was born August 29, 1890 On November 15, 1916 he was united in marriage with Ella Mary Mortine. He is survived by his wife, two children, Laura, aged 13, and Jesse Elmer, aged 9; his father, Henry Hiser; two bothers, Albert and William; and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Berton, all of this city. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o�clock at Sacred Heart church in charge of Rev. Fr. A. J. Domm. Internment will be made in Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery at Wills Creek.- Submitted by:Kelly ImKellybar@aol.com Hiser, William - From The Coshocton Tribune 14 June 1942 (Sunday) - William Hiser, 48, Operator of Gas Station is Dead William Hiser, 48, 663 John St., died at City hospital Saturday at 23:30 pm. Following an operation performed a week ago. He was born November 12, 1893 in Linton Township, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hiser. In 1917 he was married to Florence Royer. He lived in Coshocton for the past 19 years, working on the state highway for 12 years. The past six years he operated a filling station at Seventh and Pike Sts. On April 26 he and Mrs. Hiser celebrated their silver wedding anniversary. Besides the widow he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Arthur Berry, Coshocton, one sister, Matilda Berton, Coshocton, one Brother, Albert Hiser, Coshocton and two grandchildren. His parents, a brother and sister are deceased. Mr. Hiser was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Holy Name society. Services will be held Tuesday at 9 am. at Sacred Heart Church in charge of Rev. Father A.J. Domm. Hiser Will Be Tuesday Morning Mrs. Ella May Hiser, 49, widow of Jesse Hiser, died at 2 pm. Saturday at her home at 380 South Ninth St. of pneumonia after a week�s illness. She was born Sept. 7, 1884 in Linton Township, a daughter of George and Ellen Mortine, who died several years ago. On November 16, 1918, she married Jess Hiser. He died July 7 1930. She was a member of Sacred Heart church in Coshocton. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Laura Elizabeth Hiser and a son, Jesse Elmer Hiser, both at home; three brothers, William Mortine, Coshocton Route 4, Frank Mortine, Coshocton Route2, and George Mortine Coshocton. A brother and a sister died several years ago. Funeral services will be held at 9 am. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart church. Rev Fr. A. JH. Domm, pastor will officiate and burial will be in the Lady of Lourdes cemetery near Wills Creek. - Submitted by:Kelly ImKellybar@aol.com HOWARD, Dr. - The Progressive Age Feb 1, 1860 Wednesday - We are sad to record the dead of Dr. (unreadable) HOWARD an esteemed resident of Keene who received his death at the hands of Lewis FARWELL his brother in law on last Saturday morning while the Doctor was engaged in cutting up beef in the home of Robert FARWELL the father in law of the deceased, Lewis FARWELL came into the room unawares to the Doctor and dealt him the fatal blow with his fist, killing him instantly. No person witnessed this sad affair except the aged parent of Lewis. There are a thousand rumors afloat as to the cause of the difficulty between FARWELL and HOWARD none of which we will state at this time, as FARWELL has been arrested and his having his preliminary examination today. Howell, after an illness of about two months, died Monday April 16, her ailment being cancer of the stomach and dropsy, She was a member of the M. E. church at Chalfants. Interment was made at West Carlisle Wednesday. The funeral was conducted by Rev. C. L Lewis Submitted by: Sandy Payne David A Huff - Coshocton Tribune (Coshocton, Ohio) 1939 May 16 - FARMER IN EVERALS VICINITY DIES AFTER TWO WEEKS ILLNESS - David A Huff, lifelong resident of the Everals vicinity, died at 1a.m. today at his farm home in that vicinity after a two weeks illness of complications. He was 75 Born July 3 1863 he was the son of John W. and Elizabeth Huff and was a member of the Everals U.B. Church. His wife Margaret died six years ago. Surviving are seven daughters Mrs Edwin Miller and Mrs Charles Kohl, both of Massillon. Mrs Leroy (Leota Bertha) Probst of Mansfield, Mrs. Ralph Horst and Mrs Leroy Barclay, both of North Lawrence, Ohio, Mrs. Carl Seger of Cleveland and Mrs Arthur Tingle of Weirtown, W. Ba.; two sons, David Huff of North Lawrence and Russel Huff of Newcomerstown; 38 grand children, one great-grandchild and a sister Mrs E. J. Robertson of Canton. - Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. thursday at the home, north of Newcomerstown, followed by rites at 2:30 at the Everals U.B. Church, Rev Max Raefield of North Lawrence will officiate, assisted by Rev. S. W. Ellis of the Newcomerstown U.B. Church. Burial will be in the Everals Cemetery. F. - Coshocton County Democrat June 6, 1860 Wednesday - Dr. W. F. HUNT, father of the Pastor of the Presbyterian Church of this place ? died at the Parsonage last Sabbath afternoon in the 69th year of his age. Almost a year ago he gave up the practice of medicine in which he had been engaged for some 45 years at Pedricktown, Salem Co., N.J. and came to his son?s home with the purpose of spending a portion of this last days. A few months later an organic disease of the heart and on last Sabbath completed its work.
