Rev. James W. Pigman was born near the town of Cresap, Allegheny
county, Md., in 1806; settled in Coshocton in 1810. His connection
with the Methodist Episcopal church commenced in 1837, and he continued as a
local preacher until 1866, when he became a minister in the Christian Union
church, and so continued until his death, which occurred in Perry township
October 26, 1869.
